Hoover Invitational
Marching Festival
Official
Hoover Invitational Site
The first Hoover Invitational
Marching Band Festival was held in 1978 at Berry High
School and was called The Over the Mountain Invitational
Marching Band Festival. There has been only one year
since 1978 that there has not been a Festival. In 1994,
with the opening of Hoover High School, The Festival was
moved to The Hoover Metropolitan Stadium and renamed to
The Hoover Invitational Marching Band Festival. The
Hoover Invitational Marching Band Festival is held the
3rd Saturday in October each year at Region's Park Stadium. Region's
Park is the home of the
Birmingham
Barons Baseball
team. This facility is converted to a football stadium
during football season. The stadium seats over 12,000
people for football season. Region's Park is an excellent
facility for hosting the Hoover Invitational. It has
plenty of parking, large restrooms, numerous concession
stands, ample warm up areas, easy field access for bands
and their equipment, and is easily accessible from major
interstates. The Hoover Invitational has become one of
the premier marching band festivals in the southeastern
United States. We will have over 30 bands participating
in the event. By the time our band takes the field for
their exhibition performance, there will be 10,000+
people in the stands to cheer them on.
The
Hoover Invitational is also the single largest
fundraiser of the Hoover High School Band Boosters. It
demands the most amount of time, energy, and labor of
anything we do. Each year it takes 468 volunteers
putting in over 5,000 cumulative hours to make
The Festival a success. The day will begin around 6:00AM
and end around midnight. So no one person is asked to do
too much, the day is broken down into shifts. With a
band the size of ours, that means we use family,
friends, and students to fill the required slots. For
the students who work at The Festival, all time spent
working does count toward their community service
awards. We ask that both parents of the band member work
at least two shifts each during the event.
We need concession workers, parking
attendants, equipment handlers, program sales people,
ticket booth workers, and many other jobs that are too
numerous to mention here. How can you help? Make it
known that you are willing. Our Festival Chairperson or
a Festival Leader will contact you with areas where help
is needed. To make it easier for you and The Festival
staff, the link below will take you to a sign-up form.
You may provide us with all of your contact information,
what areas you are interested in helping in, and when
the best time to contact you is. When you click "submit"
the information will be sent to the Festival
Chairperson.
Thank you in advance for your help in
making this year’s Hoover Invitational the most
successful and enjoyable one yet!
